In 1999, along with his wife, Alberto Morillas created the scented candle brand Mizensir. In 2015, Alberto Morillas launched Mizensir Parfums; a brand where Alberto can create more personal fragrances, using his favourite materials and passion for the traditional perfume making.His name may not ring a bell, but you may have already worn one of its fragrances. In nearly fifty years of his career, Alberto Morillas has created iconic fragrances.
Starting with Cartier's Must, one of his first creations, launched in 1981. A transgressive juice, nicknamed "the terrible child of perfumery" at the time of its release for having combined notes of galbanum in an oriental fragrance. Never seen before. This first success will be closely followed by Giorgio Armani's Acqua Di Giò, Flower by Kenzo and Calvin Klein's CK One, a unisex fragrance that has become the world's number one in just six months: "I always write my formulas by hand. I must be one of the last dinosaurs to work like this," says Alberto Morillas, opening the door of his laboratory, located on the 8th floor of the Firmenich Tower in Geneva. Surrounded by some 3000 bottles, his painter's palette, and an incalculable quantity of scent strips, it is there that the master perfumer develops his most secret formulas...
If on this November morning, the sky is veiled by a thick layer of fog, Alberto Morillas has clear ideas. He is well on his way to ensuring that all his notes are scrupulously entered into the system by his two assistants, Patricia and Nuria, in his Gucci costume. "It can take up to two years to create a perfume, it is important that nothing is lost in case something happens to me..."
At 73 years old, including nearly 50 spent at Firmenich, the nose no longer has anything to prove. However, there is no question of resting on our laurels.
